       The actions of effective leadership come from being a leader –

       not from knowledge about what leaders do, or from trying to follow steps,

       tips or techniques from books on leadership, and certainly not from merely

       being in a leadership position, or position of authority.

       In order to lead you must be able to lead yourself

       this begins with distinguishing your functional constraints as a leader.

       If you try to act like a leader, you are not being a leader.

      Pretending to be a leader won’t work.

      If you are being a leader, you will act as a leader.
